
Darren Black is a Co-Chair for this year's conference and a second year MBA student at the Wharton School of Business. He spent the summer evaluating venture investments at Schroder Ventures Life Sciences focused on healthcare technology and services. He graduated from Harvard University in 1995 with a BA Degree in Government. He then joined Andersen Consulting's Medical Management Strategy Team where he was responsible for working with managed care organizations and pharmaceutical companies on developing integrated solutions for consumer-driven healthcare. In 1998, Darren co-founded ClinCare, a clinical trial management company providing sites to pharmaceutical companies for conduct of Phase III and IV clinical trials. Just prior to Wharton, he co-founded Pharmastar, a company currently offering education and training services to pharmaceutical companies in the central nervous system area for research and post-launch activities. Darren is a graduate student member of the Wharton Admissions Committee. He also serves as a teaching assistant for MBA classes in the marketing and healthcare departments.

Matt Pickens is a Co-Chair for this year's conference and a second year MBA student at the Wharton School of Business. Matt received a BA in History from Princeton University in 1995. Following graduation, he taught English at a private Thai university. In 1996 Matt joined Supreme Products, a Bangkok-based medical instruments distributor, where he worked as a product manager and a sales manager. Upon his return to the U.S. in 1998, Matt joined Bristol-Myers Squibb as a cardiovascular sales representative. Matt was subsequently promoted to Associate Product Manager for Pravachol, Bristol's $1 billion plus cholesterol-lowering therapy. In 2000, he joined Lathian Systems, a pharmaceutical services company, as Associate Director of Marketing. Following graduation Matt will join Cordis (a Johnson & Johnson Company) as Associate Product Director for Cardiology Global Product Management.

Leslie Rhee is a Co-Chair for this year’s conference and a second year MBA student at the Wharton School. She graduated from Yale University in 1996 with a BA degree in Psychology. Following graduation, she spent a year with Stand for Children National Headquarters where she coordinated with the Children’s Defense Fund in the campaign for legislation to provide health insurance for uninsured children. In 1997, she joined Incenter Strategies, a Washington D.C.-based health care consulting firm where she provided strategic advice and research to Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies and later was responsible for developing and implementing business plans for early-to-mid-stage development companies seeking to commercialize proprietary technologies. Leslie also worked in Tokyo, Japan as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Raj Agarwal is a Director of Sponsorship. He graduated magna cum laude in 1999 from Brown University with Honors in Business Economics. Raj completed three years at Penn Medical School and has transferred to Wharton as a joint MD/MBA student. While in medical school, he worked as a health care management intern for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Additionally, he served as manager of the United Church Health Clinic for underserved West Philadelphians. As a Measey Scholar, he studied the National Health Service System while working at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland. In the past Raj was also awarded a Royce Fellowship to study India’s health care system. Next year, he will be leading a team of Wharton students/alumni to Cape Town, South Africa for the improvement of HIV/AIDS clinics. Raj will also be presenting a research paper at the National Interventional Radiology Conference in the spring of 2003.
Michael Axt is Co-Chair for the Medical Devices Panel. Mike graduated from Stanford University in 1998 with a BS degree in Engineering. He joined Arthur Andersen, Atlanta Office, in 1998 as Associate in the General Management Consulting Practice, working with a variety of clients on critical business processes and planning. He moved to Agency.com in 2000 where he worked with clients to integrate technology plans and business strategies. As one of the first employees of the Atlanta office, he played a key role in establishing its growth and direction. Mike was active in several community service organizations including Hands on Atlanta, Georgia Center for Non-Profits, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Mike enjoys Autocrossing, a competitive car racing sport.

Jennifer Bergheiser is Co-Chair of the Finance Panel. She is a first year MBA student at the Wharton School majoring in Healthcare Management. Prior to Wharton, she spent two years as an Associate at Domain Associates, a life science venture capital firm in Princeton, NJ. At Domain, Jennifer evaluated investments in biopharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. She participated in the firm’s investments in Proxima Therapeutics, ESP Pharmaceuticals, and Medispectra, Inc. Prior to Domain, Jennifer worked as a management consultant in the Pharmaceuticals Group of Andersen Consulting. During her three years with Andersen, she worked on a variety of strategy consulting projects including product launch, channel distribution, sales force organizational design, and pricing strategy. Jennifer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in History.

Tiffany Bray is co-Director of Operations. She is a first year MBA student at the Wharton school, majoring in health care management and marketing. Her activities on campus include Community Consultants and Wharton Initiative for Leadership Learning. Tiffany also works as a Career Fellow in the Career Services department at Wharton. Prior to Wharton, Tiffany worked for 3M for five years: first as an internal consultant to improving business processes and manufacturing operations, and second as a supply chain engineer. She is a 1997 Tau Beta Pi graduate of Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.

Darcy Carr is a member of the Marketing team. She is a first-year MBA candidate at the Wharton School. Darcy received a BA in English from Amherst College in 1997, and an MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University in 2000. Most recently, she worked for the New York City Department of Health in the Policy and Management Office, where she helped the Department transition to a new city administration and 28% agency-wide budget cuts. She also worked in the Department’s Bioterrorism and Emerging Infectious Disease Unit, where she was involved in investigating the West Nile virus outbreak in 1999, and the health effects of the World Trade Center and anthrax attacks in 2001. At Wharton, Darcy plays left wing for the Wharton Wildmen ice hockey team, and is involved with the Wharton Health Care International Volunteer Project traveling to Cape Town, South Africa in August 2003.

Christy Carter is a marketing segment manager for this year’s conference. She received her undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech in Chemical Engineering with a research focus in semiconductor processing. Prior to matriculation at Wharton, Christy was a consultant for Deloitte Consulting where she consulted for life science equipment manufacturers, among others. Her consulting work focused on global systems implementations and process reengineering to improve customer relationship management. At Wharton, Christy is a marketing major.

Sarbani Chaudhuri is a Director of Marketing for the conference, responsible for industry outreach. She is a first-year MBA student at the Wharton School, and an engineering graduate. Following graduation, she spent a year with BNP Paribas where, as a pharmaceutical industry analyst, she recommended financial exposure levels to the pharmaceutical client portfolio. She also worked as an independent healthcare consultant, and advised India’s leading cardiac-care hospital on using technology to improve supply chain efficiencies. Later, as the youngest regional manager of Citibank’s employee financial services business, she structured consumer products for over 100 leading companies, managed 5 marketing channels, and launched 3 products. At Wharton, she is a consultant to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their Global Health program, to help structure international partnerships in vaccine production.
Brett Cohen is Chair for Keynote Speakers. He graduated from Yale University in 1995 with a BA in psychology. Following graduation, he joined APM Incorporated where he worked as a management consultant focusing on strategy and operational reengineering of hospitals and integrated delivery systems. In 1998, Brett joined Clinical Research Consultants, an early-stage medical research company specializing in the conduct of phase II through IV clinical trials of pharmaceutical, biotech and nutritional products. In this role, Brett was responsible for the planning and execution of all business and corporate development. He was ultimately responsible for negotiating the terms of sale of the company to MED3000 in 2000, where he continued to stay on to lead their clinical research division. At Wharton, Brett is involved in the Penn Biotechnology Group, is an admissions committee volunteer, and serves as a consultant for the Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition.

Allison Cuff is Co-Chair for the Payor Panel. She graduated in 1998 from Dartmouth College with a BA degree in Chemistry. While at Dartmouth she spent a summer working in the cardiovascular group in drug discovery at the Bristol Myers-Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute. After graduating from Dartmouth, she joined the Boston office of L.E.K. Consulting where she worked primarily in the biopharmaceutical and health care practice. While at L.E.K. she worked on a number of strategic projects for both early and late stage biotech companies. She also spent 8 months working in L.E.K.’s London office. In 2001, she joined PPL Therapeutics as Business Development Manager. PPL is a biotech company located in Edinburgh, Scotland that specializes in the production of biological proteins in the milk of transgenic animals.

Fiona du Monceau is Co-Chair of the Pharmaceutical Panel. She is the wife of a first year Wharton MBA student, Rodolphe de Hemptinne. After graduating from the Solvay Business School (Belgium) in June 2001, she worked for 4 month on a project for LG.Philips LCD in Kumi, South Korea. She then joined the Business Development Team of GlaxoSmithKline, Biologicals and followed a Master in Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Medicine at the ULB. After working part-time in M&A for Eurogentec US, she is now joining the McKinsey New Jersey office as Business Analyst.

Laura Drum is Co-Chair of the Pharmaceutical Panel. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in 1999 with a double major in Economics and International Relations. After graduation, Laura worked in health care investment banking for JP Morgan in New York. Her investment banking clients were mainly pharmaceutical companies. She subsequently transferred to JP Morgan’s San Francisco office where she worked with private and public biotechnology companies. Laura’s deal experience in investment banking included M&A advisory work, IPOs, secondary equity offerings, and private placements for a variety of health care clients. Laura is currently a first-year at Wharton, where she is majoring in Finance. She is a Wharton MBA/undergraduate mentor, an Admissions Office Committee Member, and a member of the Wharton Healthcare Club, Penn Biotechnology Club, and Wharton Finance Club. Laura is also a member of the United Nations Association and is actively involved with their Global Health program.

Stephanie Gampper is a Director of Sponsorship for this year’s conference. She is a 1996 Honors graduate of Brown University, where she received a BA in Biology. Her epidemiologically-based thesis work on the co-infection of HIV and Tuberculosis was subsequently published in AIDS Care. She then joined the Medical Economics team within CIGNA HealthCare’s Managed Care Operations division, where she was responsible for the evaluation of utilization and cost data as well as opportunity identification of medical cost strategies for the senior management team. In 1998, Stephanie joined The Lewin Group, a Washington, D.C.-based health care policy and research consulting firm, where she performed analyses and provided strategic recommendations to private employers, physician groups, federal and state governments, and pharmaceutical companies. Stephanie is currently a member of the Wharton women’s crew team and the Penn Biotechnology Club.

Simeon George is Co-Chair for the Payer Panel. He is a 1999 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Johns Hopkins University where he majored in Neuroscience. He is enrolled in Weill Medical College of Cornell University and is attending the Program as a joint MD/MBA candidate. He took a break last year from his studies to work as a business development analyst at PlantGenix Inc., a biotech company working to develop new uses for plants and improve crop health and yield. In this role, he was involved in the capital raising process during a third round of funding, identifying new business opportunities, and performing due diligence on potential joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Erika Greenfest is Co-Director of the Finance Panel. She is a first year MBA student at The Wharton School majoring in Finance and Healthcare Management. Erika graduated from Yale University in 2000 with a BA in Economics. Following graduation, she joined Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. as an analyst in the Healthcare Investment Banking group where she worked on equity and M&A transactions primarily in the medical device sector. While at Bear Stearns, Erika spearheaded the organization of the 14th annual Bear Stearns Healthcare Conference, one of the largest healthcare conferences on Wall Street. She is currently the Director of Corporate Relations for Wharton Women in Business and serves the Association of Yale Alumni as Treasurer of the Yale Class of 2000.

Catie Grimes is the Treasurer for this year’s conference. She is a 1999 graduate of Dartmouth College where she received an Honors BA degree in Chemistry and minor in International Economics. Following graduation she joined Deloitte Consulting and worked as an Analyst and later Consultant, focusing on merger integration and quantitative analysis in the Life Science and Chemical Industries.
Courtney Guyer is Director of Marketing Communications. Courtney graduated in 1996 from the Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree in Biology. She joined Merck & Co., Inc. in 1997 as a Professional Representative where she was a cardiovascular sales representative calling on primary care physicians and cardiologists. Courtney has been active in Junior League activities and serves as a literacy counselor in the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy.

Feng Han, a second-year Wharton MBA student, is a volunteer in promoting the conference. With backgrounds in biotech R&D, vaccine marketing, and breast cancer research, he often find himself having trouble explaining his resume in front of recruiters. Although Feng knows nothing about Spanish, he managed to make the Spanish website at CIGNA.com a byproduct of his summer excursion to Connecticut. At school, Feng is actively involved in pretending to be a tough interviewer to the first-years. Feng will have two Masters with three majors in the coming May. A native of hometown of Confucius, Feng lives happily with his wife in Central Jersey.

Molly Harper is a Co-Chair of the Entrepreneurship Panel. She worked previously in equity research at UBS Warburg, following companies in the life sciences industry and specializing in drug discovery technologies. Prior to UBS Warburg, she worked at The Wilkerson Group/IBM, a strategy consulting firm focused on the health care industries. While at The Wilkerson Group Molly helped companies with product positioning and competitive strategy in diagnostic, therapeutic, and medical device markets. She has also researched topics concerning hospitals and health care systems while working at The Advisory Board Company. Molly received a bachelor of arts cum laude from Cornell University.

Stephen Hartley is Director of PR and advertising for the conference. He received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from De Montfort University in England. After graduation in 1991, he worked as a pharmacist at St. George’s Hospital in London, specializing in hematology and oncology. In 1994, he joined Chugai Pharmaceuticals where he worked as a Senior Clinical Research Associate, coordinating the company’s clinical study programs throughout Europe. Four years later, Stephen transferred to the International Business Coordination Department at Chugai’s corporate headquarters in Japan were he was responsible for developing corporate marketing strategies in Asia and Australia. In his spare time, he enjoys playing rugby and is a keen member of the Wharton Wharthogs team.

Howard Horn is Co-Chair for Keynote Speakers. Howard graduated in 1999 cum laude from Princeton University where he received an AB Degree in Economics. Following graduation, he joined UBS Warburg’s Health Care Equity research department as a research associate and was a co-founder of the bank’s life science (biotech) research group. In 2001, Howard was promoted to publishing analyst and initiated formal research coverage on a group of small/mid-cap biotechnology stocks. At Wharton, Howard has been involved with the health care, entrepreneurship, biotechnology, consulting, and wine clubs.

Andrew Hyman is Co-Chair for the
Entrepreurship Panel. He is currently a first year MBA student specializing in
Healthcare Management. Andrew graduated as a University Scholar from McGill
University with a BS in Microbiology and Immunology. He received his MD degree
with honors from the University of Toronto in 1995. He completed a residency in
Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1998. He subsequently pursued
further sub-specialization in Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation at the
Toronto General Hospital and Cornell University in New York from 1998-2001. He
was appointed as the Associate Medical Director for the Kidney-Pancreas
Transplant program at the University Health Network in Toronto last year. He has
multiple publications in peer reviewed journal in areas ranging from transplant
immunobiology to clinical trials research. He is board certified in Internal
Medicine, Nephrology and Transplantation in Canada and the United States. His
current interests are in applying his diverse knowledge of clinical medicine,
biotechnology and clinical trials to entrepreneurial healthcare related
ventures.

Mudit K. Jain, is a graduate of
regional Engineering College, Nagpur, India, where he received his BE degree in
Electrical Engineering. After graduation Mudit earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical
Engineering (Cardiac Eletrophysiology) from Duke University and has the
distinction of being the first Ph.D. in the US in the area of cardiac
radiofrequency ablation. In addition to attending school, Mudit is also working
as a consultant to Burril & Co. for their early stage venture investments.
Prior to Wharton, Mudit was working as a Senior Scientist at Guidant Corporation’s
Cardiac Rhythm Management Division in St. Paul, MN. At Guidant, Mudit
established the cardiac ablation research effort and also worked on congestive
heart failure therapy, regenerative therapies, and chronic disease management.
Mudit was also involved with Guidant’s venture capital and business
development activities. During his Ph.D., Mudit worked as a consultant to two
bay area start up medical device companies while at graduate school. Mudit has
published extensively in peer reviewed medica/engineering journal, and also
serves as a reviewer for many of these journals. Mudit has twelve pending
patents in the areas of cardiac ablation, heart failure therapy, and
regenerative medicine.

Anjali Kalyani is Co-Chair for the Biotech Panel. She received a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Utah in 1994, and then went on to earn a Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 1999. Anjali then joined the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT as a post-doctoral fellow. Her research focused on the cellular and molecular bases of medulloblastoma, a childhood brain cancer. Much of her work has been published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals, such a Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience, and Developmental Biology. Following her post-doc, Anjali took a temporary position with ICOS Corp. (Seattle, WA), as a business development intern, preparing commercial market assessments for early and late stage products. Most recently, Anjali worked as a health care consultant for Accenture.

Erin Kendrick serves as a Marketing Manager for this year’s conference. Erin graduated from Brown University in 1998 with a ScB in Chemical Engineering. Following graduation, Erin worked for Mitchell Madison Group (MMG), a boutique consulting group focused on general business strategy. While at MMG, Erin worked on engagements across a variety of functional and industry groups including procurement, operations, corporate strategy. In 2000, Erin joined ChemConnect, a privately-held supply chain services company, where she worked in the Business Development and Strategy department. At ChemConnect, Erin worked with the top 50 global chemical and pharmaceutical companies to deliver negotiation tools, ERP connectivity, and other supply chain services. Erin is a first year at Wharton concentrating in Strategic Management with a focus on the Healthcare Industry.

Walter Lin is a Co-Chair on the Payer Panel. He is a first-year MBA student at the Wharton School double-majoring in Health Care Management and Information Systems. He is concurrently working as a post-doctoral fellow in medical informatics at the Philadelphia VA Hospital while enrolled at Wharton. Walter graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in biology and economics in 1994. He received a MS in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley in 1997 and a MD from the University of California, San Francisco in 1999. Walter completed an Internal Medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2002, and is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications and his Masters thesis focused on the use of managed care principles to address some of the issues faced by the health system of China. His professional interests include using information technology to improve the quality and cost of care.

Carolyn Magill is a Co-Chair of the Payor Panel. She graduated with honors from Harvard University in 1997. Following graduation, Carolyn won the Herbert J. Scoville Fellowship for Peace to research nuclear weapons accidents. In 1999 she joined the Strategic Change group of PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Business Analyst. Most recently, Carolyn worked for Silverline Technologies, an IT professional services firm, where she specialized in health and life sciences industries. As a manager, Carolyn led international teams of technology experts in analysis and development of information technology systems for payor and biotechnology clients. She was promoted to Director of HIPAA Services, responsible for developing the firm's practice for enabling clients to achieve best practices in the security and privacy of on-line health data.

Sandeep Naik is a co-chair of Business Development for this year’s conference. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Bombay, India in 1994 with a Bachelors degree in Engineering. He received an MS Degree with Honors in Biomedical Engineering in 1997 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Following graduation, he joined Medtronic Inc., as a Systems Engineer responsible for testing feasibility of therapeutic features of pacemakers working physicians to execute clinical protocols. Within a year he was promoted to Senior Biomedical Engineer responsible for achieving strategic market development and marketing objectives by participating in cross-functional teams involving education, marketing and research. In 2000, he was promoted to Marketing Manager and moved to the Neurological group working on market assessment and targeted marketing programs in cancer pain therapies. At Wharton he has been actively involved with a lot of extracurricular activities including being on the cast for Follies. Sandeep’s long-term professional goal is to change the way healthcare is delivered in underdeveloped economies.

Julia Pike is Co-Chair for the Medical Devices Panel. She is currently a first-year MBA student at the Wharton School majoring in health care management. Julia previously worked as a Consultant at the Equinox Group, a consulting company in Lexington, MA that focuses on product development decisions for global pharmaceutical companies. At Equinox Group, she constructed dynamic revenue forecast models for developmental agents, conducted primary and secondary market research, and performed epidemiology and unmet need analysis for over 20 indications. Julia is a 1998 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University where she received a BA with distinction in History of Science, History of Medicine.

D. Devi Ramanan is a first year MBA student at Wharton and is one of the Director of Operations for our conference. Devi graduated as highest honors graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1995 with a degree in electrical engineering/physical chemistry. She holds a M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Rochester. During her undergrad years, she was involved in three National Science Research Fellowships in Polymer Engineering as well as Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology that allowed her to co-author published articles in peer reviewed scientific journals as well as present at national conferences. As a Master’s student, Devi’s work, while proving that amphipathic structures in cyctochrome c are targets of ubiquitin-dependent degradation, resulted in the discovery of the MDD1 gene, a cell cycle regulation gene based on novel technique of analyzing cytochrome c expression levels in yeast. She then embarked into the world of IT consulting at Accenture in the NYC and San Francisco offices for the next five years where she worked with industries ranging from media and entertainment to telecommunications to healthcare both domestically as well as internationally. As she strongly believes in the immigrant women and children’s cause, Devi launched & led two community service programs in Chinatown (NYC) at which she spent most of her weekends: (1) PS 1 Reading program with the Asian Professional Extension for elementary school children (2) Children’s Activities program with the New York Asian Women’s Center.

Stacey D. Seltzer is a Director of the Biotechnology panel. As a member of the Wharton Class of 2004, she is majoring in Healthcare Management. In addition to the WHCBC, Stacey is a GUIDE mentor, the Co-coordinator of the Boston Trek, and a member of the Healthcare and Marketing Clubs. Prior to Wharton, she was a Director of Business Development at Akceli, a Cambridge-based biotechnology startup. At Akceli, Stacey led the effort to in-license technology from MIT and engaged in discussions with pharmaceutical companies that resulted in two proof-of-concept collaborations. Prior to Akceli, Stacey worked in strategy at Trenza, an Internet startup, and as a Business Analyst for McKinsey & Company, where she advised pharmaceutical clients on strategic, operational, and organizational issues. Stacey received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University.

Niraj Shah is the Co-Director of Business Development. Currently a first year MBA student, he has a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai and a Masters degree in Bioengineering from the University of Washington, Seattle WA. He joined Guidant Corporation’s Stent Business Unit in Santa Clara in 1998. At Guidant he was involved in early stage R&D, project management, global stent marketing and a yearlong stint as a Field Clinical Research Associate in New York City. He has worked on a number of multimillion-dollar coronary stent projects with experience ranging from early concept development, market development, product launch and due diligence of acquisition targets. He holds two Indian patents and has filed for 3 US patents. His other interests at Wharton include volunteering for the Wharton Community consultants and contributing to the marketing and budget teams of the Wharton Follies.

Jacqueline Shen is Co-Chair for Business Development. She is a 1999 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University where she received an MA degree in Sociology and a BA degree in Human Biology with Distinction. Following graduation she joined Deloitte Consulting where she worked on a wide variety of client engagements ranging from managing corporate sales at a high-tech manufacturer to implementing a procurement solution for a national integrated health care system. As a first-year Health Care Management major at Wharton, she is also involved with the International Health Care Volunteer Project, Follies show, Asian American Association, and Wharton Women in Business.

Jeanette Sian Smith is a Co-Chair for Technology. She is a 1996 Honors graduate of Southern Methodist University where she received a BS degree in Biology and a BA degree is Psychology. After graduation, she worked as a consultant at Accenture in their Technology Integration Services group. In 1998, she joined Capital Technology Information Services, a Washington D.C.-based health care consulting firm, where she designed and managed the implementation of clinical information systems. Most recently, she worked as a product manager at CareScience, a provider of Internet-based care management solutions. Jeanette is currently a first-year MBA student at the Wharton School majoring in health care management and marketing. She is a co-chair for Wharton Welcome Weekend and on the Board of Directors for Reboot Philadelphia, a non-profit that teaches computer skills to adults in under-served communities.

Jeremy Stackawitz is on the Pharma Panel. He is a 1997 graduate of Dartmouth College where he majored in Chemistry. After graduation, he worked as a Consultant for ISO Health Care Consulting, a strategy consulting firm focused on the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. In 2000 he joined Purdue Pharma, as the head of their forecasting department. Later he held the position of Assistant Director of Market Strategy / Forecasting at Purdue. At Wharton, Jeremy is an active member of the consulting, healthcare and biotech clubs, and is involved in a variety of volunteer / community activities

Abbie Suberman is Co-Director of Operations and a first-year MBA student at the Wharton School majoring in marketing and strategic management. She graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998 with a double major in Philosophy and French. Following graduation, she supervised worldwide incentive travel programs for corporate groups in the pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries and managed vendor relationships with hotels, local activities coordinators, and transportation providers. Abbie then went on to develop Internet marketing strategies for a wide range of consumer focused products and services, including several Nestlé brands and the website for CBS’s “Survivor” television show. She is very excited for this opportunity to learn more about the health care industry.

Murielle Thinard is a Co-Chair for the Biotech panel. She is currently a fist year MBA student at the Wharton School. Prior to Wharton, Murielle worked as an independent consultant designing business strategy for a clinical trial organization. From 1996 to the beginning of 2002, Murielle worked as a consultant and engagement manager for the CBM Group, a management consulting firm specialized in financial services. She developed expertise in sales force management, distribution of financial products, and lifecycle of financial services. At Wharton Murielle has been involved in a number of student organizations including the Penn Biotech Group, Wharton Women in Business and the Wharton Healthcare International Volunteer Program. Murielle is a 1996 honors graduate of University of Lyon where she received a BA in Management and Finance from the business school.

Philip Toh is the Director of Sponsorship. He graduated in 1997 from the University of California Berkeley, where he received a BS degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, he joined Pricewaterhouse-Coopers’ Corporate Strategy Group and worked as an Analyst and later Consultant, providing strategic advice to Fortune 100 companies. In 1999, he joined HealthAllies, a provider of consumer driven benefit plans, as a Product Manager and was promoted to Director of Product Management. Most recently, he was an Associate with Clearstone Venture Partners where he sourced and evaluated numerous investment opportunities. Philip is currently a founding member of a biotechnology startup focusing on a novel drug delivery platform.
