David Joseph Co-Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer Othera Pharmaceuticals
David Joseph is a Co-Founder of Othera with a thirty-year career of highly successful entrepreneurship and management in ophthalmics and medical technology. He recently retired as Chairman and Director of Orthovita (NASDAQ:VITA), an orthopaedics biomaterials company, where he served as President, CEO and Chairman since its founding in 1993. Prior to joining Orthovita, Mr. Joseph served as Chairman of Surgical Laser Technologies, Inc., which he co-founded in 1985 and successfully took public in 1989, serving as CEO until December 1991. He was a founder, in 1980, and CEO of Site Microsurgical Systems, an ophthalmic microsurgical company acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 1983. Mr. Joseph served as Executive Director of Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia from 1977 to 1980.
Mr. Joseph is currently a board member of Animas Corp., a diabetes device technology company, and recently served on the boards of Morphotek Inc., a genomics platform/product technology company, and TLC Vision (NASDAQ: TLCV), the leader in Lasik surgery centers. He received his M.B.A. in Health Care Administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH.
