Gino Santini Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Policy Eli Lilly and Company
Gino Santini was named senior vice president of corporate strategy and policy for Eli Lilly and Company in July 2004. He had been president of U.S. operations since 1999. He became a member of the company's policy committee in January 2004 and is also a member of the company's senior management forum. (The senior management forum, comprised of top Lilly executives, implements corporate strategies, ensures corporate performance, and identifies issues and opportunities.)
Santini was born in Cesena, Italy. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1981 and a master of business administration degree from Rochester University in 1983. He joined Lilly in 1983 as a financial planning associate in Italy and has held various positions in the financial and marketing components in Italy and Indianapolis.
In 1990, he was appointed pharmaceutical director for the Lilly affiliate in Belgium, and in 1991, he was named general manager of Eli Lilly Compania de Mexico in Mexico City. He served as area director of Latin America from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, he became vice president of corporate strategy and business development with the responsibility for the public policy and development group added in early 1996. He was named president of the women's health business unit in 1997.
Santini is chairman of the board of the National Pharmaceutical Council and of Noble of Indiana, a nonprofit agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Central Indiana. He also is a member of the executive committees of the Healthcare Leadership Council and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and, additionally, serves on the associate member board of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
