Welcome to the Wharton Health Care Business Conference
Thank you for attending the 2008 Wharton Health Care Business Conference. We look forward to seeing you at the 2009 conference!
The Wharton Health Care Business Conference, which began in 1996, is a leading health care forum for industry professionals, academics, and students. The annual two-day event typically draws over 700 attendees from across the nation. Corporate sponsors are a primary source of funds for the conference's operations.
This year's conference will address the evolution of the many sectors of health care – the new business models and technologies characterizing the biopharmaceutical space, how IT is transforming health care delivery, and the political and international factors driving change in venture capital and corporate finance. While each industry segment faces unique aspects of the evolutionary process, adaptation will be essential to success. Health care organizations are adapting to control costs and increase efficiency, life science firms are adopting novel technologies to erect new barriers to entry, venture capitalists are looking towards the international market for growth opportunities, while medical device companies are beginning to acquire start-ups in order to fuel innovation. All of this change is taking place in the midst of dynamic and innovative US reform initiatives and an increasing focus on global health.
