Shivan Mehta, MD, MBA, MSHP is Associate Chief Innovation Officer at Penn Medicine, Director of the Population Health Lab, and Associate Professor of Medicine and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also Co-Director of the Quality Improvement and Delivery Science program for Gastroenterology and Hepatology. At the Center for Health Care Transformation and Innovation, Dr. Mehta has led multi-disciplinary teams of designers, clinicians, and engineers focused on developing, evaluating, and implementing new approaches to health care delivery, scaling over 70 interventions across Penn Medicine that have improved outcomes and value of care. He has led and evaluated over 30 pragmatic trials of health care delivery including >200K patients that leverage behavioral science, care redesign, and new technology to improve population health outcomes in areas such as cancer screening, chronic disease management, hepatitis C screening, and vaccine outreach. He has external funding from the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Aging, and National Comprehensive Cancer Network, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Mehta received his undergraduate degree in economics at Yale University, his medical and health policy degrees from the Perelman School of Medicine, and business degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
