Bart De Jonghe, PhD is a Professor of Nutrition Science in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences in the School of Nursing, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry in the Perelman School of Medicine, at the University of Pennsylvania. Bart is also Chair of the Penn Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Bart earned his Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University and conducted his postdoctoral fellowship in molecular metabolism at The University of Pennsylvania. The De Jonghe laboratory uses a multi-species approach to examine the GLP-1 and GDF15 neurophysiological systems in preclinical models of metabolic diseases like obesity and cancer, and side effects of nausea and vomiting. Bart has published 60 + papers in these areas and is currently leads numerous NIH and private industry-sponsored grants.
